Did God use a tree frog on our exterior window to help us rescue an abandoned kitten?
Landon had just gotten back from taking his girlfriend home. He saw the frog as he pulled into the driveway, but then he heard something else. A small cry. A tiny meow.
He called for his daddy to come outside. Together, they found a kitten deep within a bush by our front door. There was no sign of its momma and no sounds from any other kittens that might be around. All alone. Hiding within the bush to keep warm, dry, and safe during the stormy weather. It had been abandoned.
Have you ever felt all alone and abandoned? Have you buried yourself away somewhere just to feel safe? God’s Word offers comfort for feelings of abandonment. Humans may leave us, but God never does.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5b
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
Just as God provides for our physical needs, we provided for that sweet little kitty. We brought the kitten inside. Stephen washed it off with a warm cloth and wrapped it in a towel to keep it warm. Landon bought a syringe and some supplemental milk. We fed it and gave it a dry place to sleep.
I’m thankful for that tree frog that led us to that sweet little abandoned kitty. I’m also thankful for a God who gives comfort, protection, and provides for the small, intimate details of our lives.
“Don’t worry about these things… your heavenly Father already knows all your needs… He will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:31–33
Who knew that a tree frog could lead us to such a deep understanding of God’s love and provision for us? Even in moments of abandonment, be assured—you are loved and cared for.
A small cry…a tiny meow… God is in every detail.
